*Up for sale here is a rather handsome looking early 1900's Wheelock souvenir china cobalt blue colored bud vase, from the western coastal city of Long Beach, California. This historic example is in near mint shape, and is quite colorful and detailed, as seen here. There is some slight wear on the gold gilding, with no chips or hairlines. A very presentable piece from southern California.
*It shows a multi colored scene of the New Bath House, along the shoreline of Long Beach, Ca. trimmed in gold gilding.
*The Pike was founded in 1902 along the shoreline south of Ocean Boulevard with several independent arcades, food stands, gift shops, a variety of rides, and a grand Bath House. It was well known as "The Plunge", way back in the early days.
*It then reads below the New Bath House ~ "NEW BATH HOUSE, / LONG BEACH, CALIF." On the base it is marked ~ "Wheelock, / Made in Germany / for / E.T. Randa II, / Long Beach, Calif." This attractive handled bud vase measures 4 3/4 inches tall, and 3 inches across the widest point. You will be well pleased with this neat little piece of beach front history, from old Long Beach, California and from the west.
